Default Part Assessment
This page documents the economical and technical assessment provided as default by 3YOURMIND. For assessments relying on custom scores and reporting, not all aspects of this documentation may apply.
Part information completeness
Part information completeness bar shows the percentage of filled out part properties.
Part information completeness bar takes into account economical and technical properties.
All properties (required and optional) of the used form are taken into account
When hovering over Show More the user is shown a list of not completed part properties.
Supported technologies and default outputs
By default, the provided economical and technical assessment supports a variety of different AM technologies:
Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM)
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)
Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS)
Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing(WAAM)
Binder Jetting (BJ)
Multi-Jet Fusion (MJF)
When all the needed data is provided for a part, the following default outputs are generated for each technology:
Economical
Total Cost of Manufacturing
Lead Time Savings estimation
Total Savings estimation
All economical outputs can be viewed on a per unit or yearly basis.
Technical
Suitability of technology
Failed technology checks
Technical Assessment
To assess the different technologies in terms of their suitability to produce this part, multiple aspects of the part are checked against the characteristics and capabilities of each technology.
The performed checks include:
Suitability of the parts material
Suitability of the parts overall size
Evaluation of support structure
Wall thickness
Presence of holes and size evaluation
Aspect ratio of the part
For details on the performed checks and individual boundaries go to /admin/catalogue/technology/
on your platform. Each technology will have these specific checks detailed and the values considered for each one (more details)
Economical Assessment
Economical assessment is performed for all technologies passing the technical checks. Unsuitable technologies are filtered out and not shown in the cost and savings breakdown.
The Total Cost of Manufacturing table provides detailed information about the composition of the estimated total cost, as it is broken down into Material, Labor and Overhead cost. Further the estimated lead time per technology is provided as raw value in this table as well.
Following the assessment of cost, the results are compared to the provided economical data on the original part. In order to be fully for its savings potential, the following data is required:
Current part price
Current lead time
Yearly Demand
Downtime avoidance (in hours)
KPI cards are additionally provided and by default highlight the recommended technologies in terms of potential Monetary and Lead time savings.
