User Group Management

Overview

This article details the process for separating catalog parts per user group. This allows for showing different parts to different users and thus maintaining intellectual property (IP) ownership. You'll learn about customer group creation, catalog item assignment, and protections for high-security parts.

You can assign users to a group, thus making them group members. Additionally you can associate each Catalog part with a certain group, thus making a part visible to group members only. Parts without group association are visible by all users.

Creating Groups

Users can only be a member of one Group

Any one user can only be a member of one Group or no Group at all. It is not possible to assign users to two or more Groups at the same time.

If you add a user to a new Group that user will be removed from any previous Group where she was a member.

Editing an Existing Group

To modify an existing Group, simply click on the group you want to change.

A drawer will open on the right-hand side where you can modify the Name and the Description.

Through Add Member(s) you can add additional users to the Group.

To remove a user from the Group, hover with the mouse over the user name and a small ‘x' will appear. Clicking the 'x’ will instantly remove the user from the Group.

Deleting Groups

To delete a Group, hover with the mouse over the Group name and a small trash icon will appear. Clicking the trash icon will prompt you to confirm the deletion.

In order to protect Catalog parts, it is not possible to delete a Group with associated Catalog parts. You first need to un-assign the Group from all Catalog parts before it can be deleted.
