This article will showcase how to add a new material to the database in case said material is currently not available or available but under another name.
1. go to the admin panel by adding /admin after the .com
2. scroll all the way down until you find the header “Products”
3. after entering this section in the left right corner you will find a button saying “Add Product”
4. now begins the actual configuration. First you will be asked for the following:
The title can be given in different languages and the slug will create itself so you do not have to worry about it.
For the Category you will be presented with a dropdown that fields several options:
IMPORTANT: selecting Plastic, Composite, Ceramic, Metal and Other without the “> x” after the name will not work. Those are just headers introducing the subsections. So always pick something like Other > Wood for example.
On to the Basic Properties:
IMPORTANT: It is mandatory to fill out exclusively the Technology, Material Form, Minimum wall thickness (critical) and Minimum wall thickness (optimal)
However going from top to bottom:
Ticking is multicolor will designate the material as a material that can have more than one color
Tradename is an internal datapoint that is not revealed to the customer
Ticking is colorable decides whether or not the material can have coloring post processings
Internal identifier is also only internal data
Interal 3yd comment is also only internal data
Popularity will decide how far up or down the material will show up in the user panel when not sorted alphabetically
Material Form gives you the options Powder, Liquid, Filament or Other. Chose whatever is true for the material you configure
Critical and optimal wall thickness decides how the part will be shown in the part viewer when this material is selected
Minimum gap critical and optimal serves no function right now
Detail richness can be configured here on a scale from 1 to 100 and will show in the advanced comparison in the user panel so can be visible to the customer
Last but not least we get to the Material Properties
The options here are self explanatory and can (like detail richness) all be found in the advanced comparison in the user panel:
